The Aruba breakfast project started on 1 June this year and is made possible by Divi Resorts, which is very involved in local communities with some seven hotels in the Caribbean. The initiative falls under the Divi Cares programme. Hotel guests are asked to donate a dollar for each day of their stay.
Divi Resorts is proud to announce the latest Divi Cares initiative in Aruba to help local children get a healthy breakfast at school. Donations are a welcome contribution to fighting hunger among these children. With the support of Divi Resorts and its guests, the impact on the island and in the lives of these children will be significant. Social attention for families with children in particular is badly needed. These often find it difficult to cope and corona has added to their difficulties. One hundred percent of donations go directly to the foundation and all administrative costs are borne by Divi Resorts.
The initiator is the former general manager of one of Aruba's resorts, Gerrit Griffith. He worked at Divi Resorts for over 43 years and once he retired, he wanted to give something back to his community. He joined hands with a local organisation that ensures that no child goes to school hungry. Participating hotels in this breakfast project are: Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort, Divi Dutch Village Beach Resort and Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort. Go to www.banuniman.org.aw for more information about the charity or to make a donation.
