HotelSpecials.co.uk presents the Hotel Price Analysis 2025: the cheapest and most expensive cities for a hotel stay, with the analysis showing that prices are rising in the luxury segment, while budget stays remain affordable.
The average hotel price in the Netherlands has increased by 6% in 2025 compared to last year. Yet a weekend break need not be expensive. From the latest analysis of HotelSpecials.com shows that the Randstad, in particular, offers many surprisingly affordable hotel deals. Amsterdam, often seen as a pricey destination, can be booked from as little as €55 a night. Haarlemmermeer and Rotterdam are also real budget toppers.
Despite increased costs, a city break is still quite doable. Contrary to popular belief, in fact, many destinations in the Randstad are relatively cheap. Amsterdam, usually an expensive city, offers hotel rooms from €55 per night. In Haarlemmermeer, starting prices are even around €50.
According to the analysis, Amsterdam, Haarlemmermeer, Diemen and Badhoevedorp are among the most affordable urban destinations. Rotterdam also offers attractive deals with hotel stays starting from €60 per night.
The biggest price increases are visible in the more luxurious segment. Hotels with wellness, extensive dinner arrangements or special locations, such as on the Wadden Islands or in historic city centres, are on average 7% more expensive than last year. Texel and Vlieland stand out with entry prices of €153 and €114 per night respectively. In cities like Utrecht, a luxury overnight stay including dinner and spa can easily cost €184.
Interestingly, demand for 'Upgrade Specials' and personalised packages has increased significantly: some 25% more than in 2024. Whereas wellness Specials were popular last year, flexible booking options and exclusive experiences are especially in demand in 2025. Travellers seem to be increasingly looking for comfort, experience and customisation.
The analysis shows that there is something for every type of traveller. Budget travellers are best off in the Randstad, Flevoland and North Brabant. For those who prefer peace, nature and luxury, the northern provinces and islands are an excellent choice.
Market insights:
Hotel stays in the Netherlands will become more expensive on average by 2025, especially in the high-end segment. However, there are still plenty of affordable options available, even in big cities. Moreover, demand is shifting towards special, personalised experiences, in line with the changing preferences of travellers.
