Innovative job board addresses staff shortage in hospitality sector

Better understanding of job, company and sector ensures better match with job seekers.

The staff shortage in the hospitality industry is expected to be there for at least another 20 years. The new job board 'Functies in de Horeca' aims to help solve the shortages by better matching jobseekers with companies, including by making vacancies come to life more.

Unknown

The job board gives a full picture of the position, the company, what is great about it, the requirements, the perks, what the working week looks like and reviews from future colleagues. ,,We put the jobseeker first and want to provide them with the information they need to decide whether the job and the company suit them. With this significantly different approach, we are going to shake up the world of job websites," says co-founder of Jobtriggers Pascal Joore.

Tightness remains

The hospitality industry employs a total of 562,000 people and this will increase. Indeed, 6% more hospitality businesses have been added in the past year. While the number of vacancies has decreased slightly, it is still extremely high at 37,500 vacancies historically. Almost 40% of hospitality businesses are experiencing staff shortages.

Employer branding

Joore also owns recruitment agency WETALENT. ,,Organisations will now be doing double-duty," he says. ,,The biggest challenge is retaining good staff. In addition, they will want to enthuse and convince future employees that, for the candidate, they are the perfect organisation where they want to work. Employer branding is therefore becoming more widely and deeply rooted within companies in the sector."

Transparency

Transparency, he says, is essential in this regard. ,,A potential new employee wants to have a good idea of the job content. But it is at least as important that the company and its culture suit the jobseeker. Vacancies need to be filled, but with those who want to stay with the company for a long time. Otherwise, this again costs a lot of time and frustration for both parties," he says.

Functions in the hospitality industry

The new job board provides the solution to this. Also for those companies that do not yet have their own employer branding perfectly in place. Joore: ,,Functies in de Horeca is the ideal platform for all vacancies in the hospitality sector and gives the jobseeker a perfect picture of the position and the company culture."

Co-founder of Jobtriggers Ronald Siemons, active as a marketing consultant: ,,The profiles do not consist of boring texts, but offer additional relevant information about the job and the organisation. Think of the use of many atmospheric images and videos that make the company culture clear. Future colleagues are featured who share their experiences. And with a sample weekly diary, it is immediately clear which tasks and appointments are part of the job. Finally, the profile includes a 360-degree photo of the working environment. This creates the absolute experience."

Applying appropriately

The application reaches the employer directly, without the intervention of the platform. We ensure that every job seeker can apply in the way that suits them best. Not everyone is able to prepare a good CV with motivation, but can be very good employees. For that reason, we have added the possibility that with can respond via an audio application. This way, we make it as easy as possible for the jobseeker.

Work-at

Siemons: "You now often see vacancies posted on the existing company website. This means you can't properly indicate what the company has to offer and what the corporate culture is. With your own work-at-home website, you are able to do this. Jobtriggers offers every SME entrepreneur the opportunity to put it together very quickly and easily.

Based on a template, the company's corporate identity can be integrated. By using images, videos and texts, the jobseeker is informed about the culture within the company and the vacancies. In addition, examples of projects are given and there is room for testimonials and the company's history.

This provides an authentic and transparent image that attracts candidates who feel they fit in. The work-by website can be integrated on the company's own website and is placed on the Functions in the hospitality industry platform.
