The Hotel du Commerce in Houffalize has joined the collection; seven hotels in Germany, the Netherlands and Italy have also joined.
Quality Lodgings (QL) is further expanding its European collection with eight independent hotels across four countries. Among the new members is the Hotel du Commerce in Houffalize, the historic family-run hotel in the Belgian Ardennes managed by Thierry and Barbara Vermeiren. In addition, four hotels in Germany, two in Italy and one hotel in the Netherlands are joining the collection. This expansion follows on from earlier additions this year and underlines the collection’s international ambitions.
The new hotels represent a wide range of hotel concepts, from historic country estates and family-run hotels to gourmet boutique hotels and a hotel with its own vineyard. Within Quality Lodgings, they retain their own identity and independence, whilst becoming part of a European network that facilitates international visibility, knowledge-sharing and commercial collaboration.
The Hotel du Commerce is situated on the banks of the Ourthe in the centre of Houffalize and has a history dating back to 1857. This four-star family-run hotel builds on a long tradition of hospitality, centred on regional cuisine, personalised service and a connection to the Ardennes. Regional cuisine, personalised service and a connection to the Ardennes are key elements of the hotel’s concept.
“Hotel du Commerce has been linked to Houffalize and the Ardennes for generations. That history, our personal approach to hospitality and our focus on regional cuisine define who we are. Through Quality Lodgings, we can also promote our own story more effectively beyond Belgium’s borders and share our knowledge with like-minded hoteliers, whilst remaining true to the character of our family-run hotel.”

In addition to Hotel du Commerce, Quality Lodgings is welcoming seven other independent hotels across three European countries. Germany is the best-represented country in this expansion, with four new properties.
In northern Germany, it is closing Hotel GUT Immenhof in Malente, a country estate on the Kellersee that is over 650 years old and reopened its doors in 2021 following extensive restoration. On Lake Constance, CARALEON Hotel & Restaurant in Wasserburg joins the collection, offering contemporary cuisine under the guidance of chef Sandy Siancas. Also Schlosshotel Münchhausen In Aerzen, housed in a Renaissance castle dating from 1570, the German delegation is enhanced by high-quality cuisine, wellness facilities and golf. In Pullach, just outside Munich, QL welcomes Seitner Hof Boutique Hotel, a former country estate that has been in the Köhler family’s possession since 1859, where historic architecture, personal hospitality and contemporary comfort come together.
QL welcomes you to the Netherlands Hotel Hoog Holten, a former hunting lodge on the Holterberg, run by Dominique van der Valk and Wilco Schuitemaker, which stands out for its distinct culinary ambition. In Italy, two hotels have joined the group: Sexten Mountain Hotel in the South Tyrolean Dolomites, where regional cuisine and sustainability take centre stage, and Hotel Spitalerhof in Klausen, a family-run hotel owned by the Oberpertinger family, with its own vineyard and distillery, where South Tyrolean cuisine and locally sourced produce take centre stage.
