To add even more lustre to the already festive opening of restaurant GEM., the management of Hotel Kasteel Gemert has decided, in anticipation of the castle's official inauguration as a five-star superior hotel in 2026, to create some unique overnight accommodation options.
The 'sleeping facilities' are intended for guests of top chef Soenil Bahadoer's new restaurant, says castle owner Bas van de Laar. Soenil cooked two Michelin stars at his restaurant de Lindehof in Nuenen for 20 years. The official opening of GEM. means a new and special chapter for him and his wife Annu. A 'boyhood dream come true'. We would like to contribute to that by already giving guests a modest foretaste of the unprecedented luxury they can expect when the hotel is also officially opened soon."
GEM. visitors, whether with a larger party or not, can now use the specially furnished, 100-square-metre Tower Suite on the top two floors of the keep, the main tower of the 14th-century castle. This suite is equipped, among other things, with a romantic four-poster bed with floral decoration and a freestanding bathtub, just below the fully restored medieval oak truss construction. "Everything is finished with the most luxurious materials. Many of which come directly from leading Parisian brands. I dare say it is the most romantic Tower Suite in the Netherlands," Van de Laar said.
Sleeping is now also possible in the castle's haunted garden. An extensive glass sleeping artwork with mirror facades has been installed there. The artwork reflects the façade of the castle and the Gatehouse during the day, preventing people walking in the garden from looking inside, while the opposite is the case. It houses three hotel rooms. These can be converted into a large executive suite relatively easily upon request.
Van de Laar is already noticing a lot of interest. ,,The first bookings are pouring in. It's going even faster than I expected. Perhaps this is a foretaste of things to come. The demand for exclusive hotel capacity in Brainport Eindhoven is high. Just last week it was announced that this region is one of the growth engines of the Dutch economy."
Gemert Castle, the showpiece of the Brabant village of the same name, has been thoroughly restored in recent years and is currently being converted into a five-star superior hotel including a castle park with moat, seventy rooms and suites, a spa wellness and beauty centre, meeting and event spaces and - in addition to GEM. - another second restaurant. Currently, it is already possible to hold meetings, meetings and exclusive dinners in the other wing of the Poortgebouw than in which GEM. is housed.
The five-star hotel will enter the market as Gemert Castle Eindhoven, as part of the Curio Collection By Hilton, one of the most luxurious brands in the portfolio of international hotel giant Hilton Worldwide.
