Fleur and Pepijnde Visscher, co-owners of the leading The Seafood Bar, and Ken Srisangkhan, owner and chef of the eponymous Ken Sushi, will open a new late-night culinary destination by the end of 2025: House of Noa. The Seafood Bar is a family business, founded by Fleur and Pepijn's father, and under their leadership has grown into one of the most iconic and beloved hospitality brands in town and country within just 13 years. The family business now includes six restaurants and two cocktail bars under the name Zum Barbarossa. With this, the group welcomes more than 500,000 guests annually, driven by an uncompromising focus on fresh ingredients, craftsmanship and a welcoming experience.
In 2022, The Seafood Bar took its first international step with the successful opening of The Seafood Bar EN Zum Barbarossa in London. There, Pepijn was inspired by the dynamic after-hours scene, where different cultures and subcultures come together and the city's diversity is brought to life. He and his sister now bring that same energy back to their hometown with House of Noa, an elegant place that is all about quality, service and where you can dance until late in this impressive UNESCO national monument.
House of Noa draws her inspiration from international icons such as Hotel Costes in Paris and Chiltern Firehouse in London, where gastronomy, design and nightlife come together in a unique way. In that same spirit, the evening unfolds at House of Noa develops into a subtle escalation, in which sophisticated dining gradually evolves into nightly escapades with DJ, in an ambiance of a 19th-century Hong Kong opium house.
"After the success of The Seafood Bar, which also opened in the Beurs van Berlage in 2024, it is a dream come true to now be able to put up something that has never before been realised in this iconic location. As a national monument, the building breathes history and grandeur, and with Ken, who makes the best sushi in Amsterdam, we combine design, gastronomy and experience." - Pepijn de Visscher
House of Noa will open in late 2025 in the basement of the Beurs van Berlage, one of the Netherlands' most iconic national monuments and a recognised UNESCO World Heritage Site. The impressive building, opened in 1903 and designed by Hendrik Petrus Berlage, is considered a milestone in Dutch architecture. It belongs to the Top 100 Dutch monuments and has had numerous special moments over the years, including the marriage of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima in 2002.
The arrival of House of Noa to Damrak 247 adds a sophisticated, international dimension that will enrich the streetscape of Amsterdam's city centre. The new hospitality destination will bring back a level befitting icons such as Beehive,Dior, The Seafood Bar, Gassan and the leading luxury hotels in the area, creating a place that welcomes Amsterdammers for a complete night out. This approach led to House of Noa was selected out of 15 pitches from different catering entrepreneurs to open at the Beurs van Berlage, a confirmation of the distinctive nature of the concept.
"The arrival of House of Noa fits seamlessly with our objective of making the Beurs van Berlage a special meeting place in the heart of the city. With this new development, we are offering a unique experience to our conference delegates, visitors to the city and certainly to Amsterdam residents!"
- Marcel Schonenberg, managing director of the Beurs van Berlage
Fleur and Pepijn welcome Ken Srisangkhan as co-owner of House of Noa. The founder of the eponymous Ken Sushi translates its craftsmanship for this new destination into a contemporary gastronomic experience focusing on refined flavours, precision, fresh ingredients and shared experiences.
Ken Sushi is, like The Seafood Bar, a family-run business with craftsmanship in its DNA. Since opening in May 2019 as an intimate omakase sushi bar in a shared location in Amsterdam Oud-West, Ken Sushi developed into an established and indispensable name within the city's culinary landscape. In 2023, Ken opened its own downtown location, where foodies converge for an authentic sushi experience. The restaurant was awarded a 9 in the Parool, a confirmation of the exceptional quality and precision that Ken Sushi makes it one of the best sushi addresses in town. Moreover, it receives a rare rating of 4.9 on Google, out of more than eight hundred reviews.
For House of Noa Ken creates a contemporary, omakase-inspired menu where the hand-rolled temaki forms the heart of the evening. Each roll is prepared with precision and invites to share, discover and taste in good company. Alongside the temaki, the chef presents carefully prepared creations, each offering a surprising confluence of flavours. This culinary journey is inspired by the Japanese omakase tradition, literally translated as "I leave it to you", in which the guest entrusts himself completely to the creativity and expertise of the chef. At House of Noa translates this philosophy into a contemporary dining experience, in which Ken is present on the floor every week to personally guide guests through the menu. This creates an experience that fully expresses the social and culinary core of the concept.
"For me, life is about sharing moments - with good people and really good food. In the Beurs van Berlage, we want to create a place where passion for sushi and hospitality come together." - Ken Srisangkhan, chef and owner Ken Sushi
Marie Martin, the creative duo behind renowned interiors such as the signature suite of the luxury Castille Paris Hotel, the award-winning Thai restaurant in the Jumeirah Al Qasr Hotel in Dubai and Zum Barbarossa in London, designs the interior of House of Noa. For this, they draw inspiration from the mystical atmosphere of a Hong Kong opium house from the nineteenth century enriched with Parisian allure. The duo translates this inspiration into a design in which antique furniture meets modern lighting and sound techniques for a warm, distinct ambiance. An interior that, like the sensory concept itself - culinary, musical and social - brings together different worlds.
