An ode to timeless elegance, feminine vision and festive sophistication
Hotel Des Indes proudly presents festive end-of-year news: on 8 December 2025, the hotel officially opened the Anna Pavlova Champagne Lounge, and the new Anna Pavlova-inspired Christmas tree was unveiled on 1 December. Both creations celebrate the legacy of the legendary ballerina and bring her graceful spirit to life in the heart of The Hague.
The Anna Pavlova Champagne Lounge is an exclusive Champagne Room where history, character and refinement come together. The space pays tribute to two women who have left an indelible mark on art and champagne:
Pavlova died in 1931 at Hotel Des Indes, shortly after arriving for her farewell tour of the Netherlands. Her regular stays at the hotel and her international fame made her an iconic figure in the history of our city palace.
Her presence is subtly felt in the new lounge: in the refined details, the graceful lines and the atmosphere of timeless elegance — as if Pavlova's dance still floats softly through the space.

Madame Pommery is also honoured in this Champagne Room. At a time when female leaders were rare, she transformed the world of champagne with her progressive vision and the introduction of brut champagne. Her strength, elegance and social commitment form a natural counterpart to Pavlova's artistic adaptability.
The Anna Pavlova Lounge embraces both tradition and modernity. A special feature is the original cigar safe, which has been preserved in its entirety. This historic safe has now been given a new purpose as a Wall of Fame, honouring special guests who, like Pavlova, have a lasting connection with Hotel Des Indes.

In honour of this iconic dancer and as a festive introduction to the new lounge, Hotel Des Indes designed a unique Anna Pavlova Christmas tree this year.
The tree reflects her characteristic lightness, her signature white costumes and the poetic aura of The Dying Swan, her most famous role. Golden ballerinas, elegant contours and subtle Christmas details evoke the atmosphere of an eternal pirouette, a tribute to Pavlova's immortal movement.
The Christmas tree and the new lounge together tell a single story: a dance between history, luxury and winter magic.

The lounge was officially opened on 8 December 2025 by businesswoman Sylvia Tóth and general manager Yvonne van der Klaauw, a contemporary symbol of strength, class and feminine sophistication, values that are perfectly reflected in the space.
Hotel Des Indes cordially invites you to experience the magic of Anna Pavlova for yourself — where history sparkles in every glass and winter elegance in every movement.
