Two refurbished hotels on the Meuse for overnight stays, meetings and culinary enjoyment

DoubleTree by Hilton Rotterdam Centre and Haven Hotel Rotterdam, Curio Collection by Hilton officially opened their doors on Thursday 18 September. During a festive evening, some 500 invited guests and relations were welcomed to the completely renovated hotels. After an extensive renovation, both hotels, located on the Leuvehaven, offer a stylish and modern destination for both international and local guests.

The two hotels are directly connected and together form a new hotspot in Rotterdam's bustling city centre. The location is unique: right on the river Maas, overlooking the Erasmus Bridge and with a rich history; in the 17th century, Rotterdam's trade and shipping flourished here. In addition, various highlights of the city are within walking distance, such as the Maritime Museum, the Market Hall, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and Kop van Zuid. With a mix of facilities, the hotels are suitable for both business travellers and guests wishing to explore the city in their leisure time.

Melle van Uden, General Manager: "It is special to be able to open the renovated hotels right here, on this historic site. Both hotels offer a completely unique experience - from familiar hospitality of DoubleTree by Hilton to a special, characterful atmosphere of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Together with our team, we look forward to offering guests an unforgettable stay.

DoubleTree by Hilton Rotterdam Centre: renewed icon on the river Maas

The Maas Building, designed in the style of a cruise ship, is a striking part of DoubleTree by Hilton Rotterdam Centre. For many years it has been part of the skyline of the Maasstad and now it has been completely renovated inside. The hotel features modern rooms with views of the Erasmus Bridge and extensive meeting and event spaces. The main hall on the 16th floor offers spectacular panoramic views of Rotterdam, making it a special venue for dinners, conferences and receptions.

On the ground floor on the street side is dō deli bar bistro, where guests can go all day for lunch dinner or drinks. Inspired by European café culture, this new concept emphasises craft, meeting and an approachable atmosphere. The menu includes a healthy quinoa bowl, a freshly baked focaccia with chickpeas and a classic Negroni.

Haven Hotel Rotterdam, Curio Collection by Hilton: urban tranquillity and contemporary style

The adjacent Haven Hotel Rotterdam is the first hotel in the Netherlands within Curio Collection by Hilton. It targets travellers who appreciate comfort and want to experience the atmosphere of Rotterdam. The interior takes inspiration from the maritime heritage of the Leuvehaven, reflected in materials and details. The rooms and suites are designed as quiet places in the middle of the city, with warm colours and comfortable amenities such as king-size beds. Some suites even feature a private sauna and jacuzzi. From the rooms, guests have views of the river Meuse, the port or the city.

This hotel houses LOEF Living Room & Café: an informal meeting place in the lobby where guests can enjoy a menu inspired by Dutch traditions, such as eel and shrimp cocktail. Flexible spaces are available for meetings and events, making the hotel attractive for business guests as well. The wellness opens on 1 November and offers a hammam, sauna, steam room and swimming pool for ultimate relaxation. The renovated gym completes the offer.

Culinary highlight on agenda

Although both hotels have officially opened, the opening of Calan Restaurant & Bar at Haven Hotel Rotterdam will follow in October. The name is a nod to engineer Pieter Caland, the designer of the Nieuwe Waterweg canal. Executive chef Michael Verhagen, known for the Michelin-starred Fitzgerald, is looking forward to the opening: "With Calan, I want to let Rotterdam's cuisine speak for itself: worldly, diverse and always on the move. Our dishes bring together the flavours that have shaped Rotterdam - from Surinamese and Indonesian to Moroccan - each with its own story. I look forward to welcoming the first guests soon.
