Bonnie and SEA Water in the spotlight at grand opening

With a full house, a vibrant kick-off and the annual theme ‘Affordable Luxury’ as the common thread, Horecava 2026 officially opened today in RAI Amsterdam. The Horecava Awards were also presented during the opening. This year for the 25th edition. Presenter Sander Allegro, together with Florentine Rijkmans (Director Horecava) and Puck Wilbers (jury chairman Horecava Awards) presented the awards to the winners of 2026.

The Horecava Awards highlight innovations that move the sector forward, from smart solutions for the shop floor to initiatives with demonstrable sustainable impact. This is nothing new: previous winners and frequent laureates show how innovation drive in the sector has been making a difference for years.

Horecava Innovation Award 2026: Bonnie

The Horecava Innovation Award 2026 goes to Bonnie. The award honours an innovation that helps hospitality entrepreneurs work smarter, more efficiently and more guest-focused, exactly what the industry needs right now.

Bonnie automates phone calls, reservations and frequently asked questions, so restaurants don't miss out on revenue and teams can focus on guests. The platform speaks all languages, connects with reservation systems and supports the entire guest journey before and after the visit.

Horecava Sustainability Award 2026: SEA Water

The Horecava Sustainability Award 2026 has been won by SEA Water. With this award, Horecava rewards an innovation that makes sustainable progress tangible in everyday foodservice practice - with an eye for impact and scalability.

SEA Water filters local seawater into mineral-rich drinking water, entirely solar-powered. It is bottled in reusable glass bottles, drastically reducing carbon emissions and waste and creating a sustainable, local water source.

Horecava Public Award 2026: Joppah Bites

The Horecava Public Award is awarded to the innovation that most convinces the public with the question:
‘Which initiative do you think has the greatest potential to actually move the hospitality sector forward?’

Joppah Bites introduces cassava as a new snack category: crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside and available in halal, vegan and salted cod varieties. Suitable for deep-frying and air-frying, made in short supply chains and linked to social impact projects.

Affordable luxury: a choice, not a compromise

Horecava 2026 is all about ‘Affordable Luxury’: the movement in which guests do seek experience and quality, while entrepreneurs have to make choices under pressure from costs, personnel and margins. During the opening, this theme was presented as both direction and inspiration for the sector, with Horecava as the place where ideas, concepts and innovations come together directly.
