Handwritten Collection welcomes botanically inspired hotel in the heart of Liège in collaboration with Step Partners and Alchemy Step Group

Handwritten Collection, a carefully curated selection of distinctive hotels worldwide, today announces the opening of Blooma Hotel Liège Centre, Handwritten Collection. Located in the heart of the city, behind centuries-old walls on the banks of the Meuse River, the hotel is an ideal base from which to discover Liège. The hotel has 149 rooms that reference the city's iconic botanical gardens and the history of the building, which formerly served as a monastery.

Since its launch in 2023, Handwritten Collection has been bringing together hotels with a distinctive character, a warm welcome and the unique hospitality of dedicated hosts. With more than 30 hotels now open and 35+ additional hotels in development, Handwritten Collection continues to grow as a collection of unique stays where human connection and individual character are central.
In 2025 alone, Handwritten Collection expanded further in Europe, with openings in Hungary, Romania, Greece and France (Paris), as well as four other hotels in the Benelux, including Maek Hotel Antwerp Central, Hotel Maison Maastricht Centrum, Hotel Ter Zand and Le Marin Rotterdam City.

From urban hustle and bustle to hidden garden

Blooma Hotel Liège Centre, Handwritten Collection combines contemporary comfort with the charm of a historic building. Each room has its own character, shaped by the hotel's unique story. The hotel's signature theme, “Hidden Garden”, is an ode to the city and is inspired by General Manager Vanessa Sari's childhood memories of summer walks in her grandmother's walled garden. This connection with nature runs like a thread through the entire hotel, creating an oasis of calm in the heart of Liège.

Guests are introduced to the “Hidden Garden” theme from the moment they arrive, starting with a welcome tea made from herbs grown on site. These same herbs also inspire the signature “Garden Cocktail” served in the hotel bar. Guests can enjoy this in the hotel's social hub while browsing through a selection of books on flora and fauna. Furthermore, the rooms feature subtle botanical art and details that refer to the building's monastic past. Upon departure, guests receive an envelope with seeds, a small gesture that allows them to continue the garden experience at home.

Collaboration with an eye for heritage

The hotel is owned by the Alchemy Step Hotel Group (ASHG) and managed by Step Partners. They are collaborating with Accor on several projects, including Maek Hotel Antwerp Central, Handwritten Collection, which opened its doors earlier this year.
