An exceptional sauna where exclusivity and enjoyment come together

Amidst a renowned wine estate in the rolling hills of the Saar (DE), surrounded by mineral-rich slate soils from which some of Germany's best wines come, is a unique wellness oasis. Here, KLAFS realised a custom-made DOME sauna. Designed for a wine grower who places the highest demands on craftsmanship and aesthetics.

Overlooking the adjoining pool and vast vineyards, this exclusive sauna embodies a new dimension of well-being and its design reflects the spirit of the winery; a commitment to quality and the pleasure of refined enjoyment.

Architecture with inspiration, a sauna as an expression of the art of living

For the private sauna, the client emphasised an individual design that combines precision and craftsmanship with comfort and exclusive design. In the balance between contemporary architecture and the preservation of the historical estate, an exclusive place of tranquillity was created, which elegantly blends into the overall concept. The wish was for a sauna stove with the appearance of a fireplace, as a central element in the room and intended to create a warm, intimate campfire atmosphere. With the exclusive DOME sauna, KLAFS was able to realise this vision convincingly.

A unique interplay of wood, copper and light

The heart of the room is formed by the MAJUS hot tub heater, centrally positioned and source of almost meditative warmth. The striking cladding, composed of numerous organically curved slats, enhances the characteristic design characterised by flowing lines. Above it, an impressive domed roof made of warm, naturally shiny copper emphasises the central position of the stove. The special shape, material and thoughtful lighting concept make the combination of stove, stove cover and dome a distinctive eye-catcher. The sloping lounger and seat benches with gently rounded corners complement the undulating design language and enhance the aesthetic whole. Thanks to tailor-made solutions and exclusive design accents, the design ultimately exceeded all the client's expectations.

KLAFS craftsmanship in perfection

A key wish of the client was to be able to enjoy unobstructed views of the adjoining gym and swimming pool, despite its length of more than two metres. To make this possible, the design was planned to the millimetre and manufactured from materials of the highest quality.

Generous, insulated glass fronts open up views of the surrounding landscape while contributing to a high degree of energy efficiency. The wall cladding of certified hemlock veneer panels enhances the individual character of the design. The natural material radiates warmth and creates a pleasant, harmonious atmosphere in the room. The technical equipment with the KLAFS control system also guarantees operating comfort at the highest level.

“Through the close collaboration between the architectural firm Axel Roth and KLAFS, an exceptional overall concept has been realised in which advanced technology, minimalist design and exclusive luxury come together in perfect harmony,” said KLAFS project leader Michael Demmerle. “For the client, this is no ordinary wellness space, but an expression of a lifestyle where quality and enjoyment come together.”

The adjoining swimming pool and fully equipped gym complete the picture, offering everything a modern wellness oasis needs. Thus the sauna, like the wine, becomes an expression of exclusivity and art of living, a tribute to the tradition-rich Saar and the refined tastes of the patron.
