Ruby opens its latest Lean Luxury Hotel in the heart of London. Ruby Zoe Hotel & Bar is the hotel group's second location in the UK capital with 173 rooms, 455 sq m of bar and café space and its own vinyl shop.
Ruby Zoe is the 16th hotel in Europe by the Munich-based hotel group, led by founder and CEO Michael Struck. The 173 rooms are spread over six floors of a new building with a total area of 6,860 m², right on Notting Hill Gate and a few minutes' walk from the famous Portobello Road.
Ruby Zoe's design is inspired by Notting Hill's history and Caribbean heritage. This is mainly reflected in the furnishings and interior design, which reflect the different cultures that have made the neighbourhood the vibrant area it is today. In particular, the 1970s, the colours of Portobello Road and the Caribbean islands provided inspiration for the typically cosy Ruby atmosphere, a relaxed and welcoming interior full of colour, weathered surfaces and musical references. Open and expansive glass facades on three sides tie the entire ground floor to the city.
The newest hotel also follows Ruby's Lean Luxury philosophy: a location in the heart of the city, top design and high-quality, essential amenities. But always affordable, by consistently renouncing superfluous and non-essentials. For the rooms at Ruby Zoe, this means the brand-typical elements of an open sink and glass rain shower, lots of crisp, white elements and cherry wood wall panels. Extra charm is added with an artwork above the bed depicting the colourful houses in Notting Hill.
One of the highlights by far is the 455 sq m public space on the ground floor, with a bar and vinyl shop. The vinyls are curated by Ruby's own artists and can be bought on site. The open space invites locals, guests and even the neighbourhood to drop by, offering space to work or simply enjoy a cup of coffee as passersby walk by.
In autumn 2023, a special, public artwork will also be installed on the hotel façade, commissioned for the London Borough of Kensington & Chelsea by renowned British-Trinidadian artist Zak Ové. This is his first glass mosaic artwork inspired by the traditions, flair and freedom of carnival and masquerade. Ové's installation will consist of eight room-high glass mosaic panels that will frame the exterior of Ruby Zoe at the entrance. Together, they will form an undulating, vibrant carnival procession that reflects both the rich heritage of the area and Ové's own heritage and connection to it.
Ruby Zoe is located in the heart of the colourful Notting Hill district. The hotel is within walking distance of Kensington Palace, Hyde Park and the popular Portobello Market, known for its antiques and vintage fashion. Notting Hill Gate tube station is right outside the door, offering excellent public transport links. London Heathrow Airport is 40 minutes away by car.
Ruby guests can choose from four room categories, ranging from the cosy NEST room of about 15 m², COSY rooms of about 17 m², LOVELY rooms for a weekend for two people, of about 18-24 m² and WOW rooms of up to 30 m². On average, room rates are around EUR 262/night.
