In 1978, Sabine and Ernest Schaetzel embarked on an extraordinary adventure. They transformed their childhood home into a two-star hotel with seven rooms and a restaurant. What started small at the time grew over the years into an impressive four-star hotel with no fewer than 67 rooms and suites, refined gastronomy and a wide range of relaxation and work facilities. Sabine and Ernest are the driving forces behind the success story of Hostellerie des Châteaux in the French municipality of Ottrott.
The 67 rooms and suites of this hotel complex are divided into different categories and all meet the highest comfort standards. The owners gave the traditional architecture of this former mansion a contemporary twist by creating a stylish interior with soft, warm tones and contemporary design. The luxurious character of the various accommodations can be felt throughout. For instance, the bathroom has a whirlpool bath and walk-in shower, you sleep in a king-size bed and can cozy up in a separate sitting room overlooking the beautiful surroundings. The Sky Suite with spa is the showpiece of Hostellerie des Châteaux and offers exclusive facilities such as a breathtaking panorama over the vast garden, a decorative fireplace and a telescope for stargazing.
Lovers of better gastronomy can put their feet under the table in the hotel's restaurant in the evening. In the kitchen, Ernest Schaetzel, one of Alsace's leading culinary chefs, is in charge. Awarded the titles Maître Restaurateur and Maître Cuisinier de France, he is also a member of the Federation of Chefs of Alsace. Since childhood, this culinary talent has had a passion for cooking. His menu pays homage to the region's rich culinary heritage with a focus on the best local produce.
