Lievergoed Collection new owner of Maurick Castle

After ten years of management and operation, the Lievergoed Collection has taken ownership of Maurick castle in Vught acquired. The company of associates Klaas van Leengoed EN Niek van Lieverloohas thus officially become the owner of the 15th-century castle. With the purchase, the Lievergoed Collection enters a new phase, focusing on the continuity and further preservation of the monumental heritage.

Since September 2015 The Lievergoed Collection takes care of the operation of the castle, which until 1 October 2025 was in the hands of Monument Management Brabant. Under the motto 'Unforgettable coming home' Maurick Castle offers a wide range of high-quality events, such as weddings, parties, meetings and corporate presentations. In addition, the castle has two restaurants and luxury accommodation options.

Full grip on maintenance and appearance

"We are very happy to now own the castle ourselves," says Klaas van Leengoed. "It fits perfectly with our desire to build for the long-term future of this beautiful landmark. Now that we are owners, we have full control over maintenance and appearance - crucial elements for the quality we want to offer our guests."

The transfer of ownership follows a period of years in which both parties disagreed on how to address maintenance deficiencies. Those defects regularly impeded optimal operations and guest satisfaction, according to the operator. Earlier this year, the court ruled that the then owner was responsible for repairing several defects. At the same time, the first right of purchase of the Lievergoed Collection was confirmed.

'Cherry on the cake' of tenth anniversary

For the Lievergoed Collection, the purchase marks a symbolic moment. "For us, acquiring the property is the icing on the cake of our 10th anniversary," said Niek van Lieverloo. "We are proud of what we have built over the past decade. Our solid financial position allows us to sustainably preserve and future-proof this special heritage."

Sustainability and future plans

In the coming period, the Lievergoed Collection will focus on further sustainability of the estate, with the aim of achieving the Green Key Gold-label. Plans include improved insulation, the partial switch to solar energy, replacement of gas-fired lighting with LED and the installation of heat pumps for energy-efficient air treatment.

"These steps not only strengthen the operation, but also demonstrate our responsibility to preserve this historic landmark," says Van Leengoed. "We want the castle to remain a source of pride for Vught and the surrounding area. The property gives us new energy. For example, we want to restore the centuries-old orangery and restore it to its former glory, so that the unique character of Maurick Castle is even better showcased."
