Opening by 20 April 2026
In the centre of Emmeloord, a striking water tower is being redeveloped into a small-scale hospitality concept with six high-quality suites. The tower, with a height of 65.30 metres, will thus be given a new purpose in which heritage, experience and exclusivity come together. The opening is planned for mid-April 2026.
The project involves the transformation of an iconic property into a distinctive accommodation concept within the upper segment. The vertical structure of the tower creates a unique spatial layout, with each suite being at a different height and offering its own perspective of the surroundings.
An additional element within the concept is the visitor platform at the level of the carillon. This platform adds a public function to the building and increases its appeal to guests.

The water tower is located on the same square as hotel ‘t Voorhuys, thus forming an extension to the existing hospitality offering. This combination creates a hybrid model in which small-scale, exclusive accommodation is coupled with the facilities and operational support of a hotel environment.
“With this project, we are betting on a niche within the accommodation market, in which experience and location are central,” says Twan Hakvoort. “The combination of heritage, height and small scale makes the concept distinctive, both regionally and nationally.”
The redevelopment is in line with a broader trend of using monumental real estate for high-quality hospitality concepts. Thereby, factors such as identity, storytelling and unique locations play an increasingly important role in the positioning towards the guest.
The suites will be bookable from 20 April 2026 through www.detorenkamers.nl EN www.voorhuys.nl .
