On the Vismarkt, in the middle of Utrecht's historic centre, lies Hotel Petit Beijers. The small-scale boutique hotel combines atmospheric rooms with the lively soup bar Soep-er on the ground floor. It was precisely this combination of hotel and catering industry that required a smart, flexible solution for check-in and access management.

The main driver for the switch was freedom, for both guests and the team. With a busy hospitality business downstairs, staff wanted to be able to focus their attention fully on the bar and restaurant guests, without having to constantly consider upcoming check-ins.
Introducing mobile key made it possible to operate completely reception-free. Guests automatically receive their digital key on their smartphone and can check in independently at their convenience. Delays or late arrivals are no longer a problem.

Since the implementation, the team especially notices more calmness in daily operations. There is no longer a need for continuous physical reception and waiting times have been completely eliminated. Guests do not have to rush if they are delayed; their smartphone is their key and they set their own pace. This has completely transformed the operational workflow.
Reactions are mostly positive. The target group: “city explorers, business travellers and weekend tourists” appreciate the independence and efficiency. For guests who are less digitally literate, personal support remains available.
