A whole new bathing ceremony: KLAFS launches the world's first foam steam bath ESPURO®

Foam has exerted a magical fascination on us for centuries and is celebrated with various rituals in many cultures. Steam relaxes, fragrance inspires the senses, colours arouse feelings and foam ceremonies cleanse and relax at the same time. Inspired by this, KLAFS - the world's leading manufacturer of saunas, pools and spas - now offers ESPURO®; a foam steam bath that offers a completely new bathing experience using only natural ingredients. The ESPURO® foam steam bath combines relaxation, bathing pleasure and beneficial skin care. For this world first, KLAFS received the 'Special Mention' award at the German Design Award and 'Gold' at the German Innovation Award 2023.

With the new ESPURO® foam steam bath, market leader KLAFS has once again proved that a passion for ingenuity can lead to innovations that combine relaxation, body care and fun. The revolutionary and patented bath shape has also convinced internationally renowned design experts: the ESPURO® foam steam bath received the 'Special Mention' award at the German Design Award - a seal of quality for special product and design developments. At the German Innovation Award, the foam steam bath was honoured with 'Gold' in the category 'Excellence in Business to Consumer - Beauty & Care'

A ceremony for all the senses

ESPURO® takes bathers on an unforgettable journey that invites them to feel, smell, dream - and repeat. After entering the cabin, the bather is immediately greeted by softly shining light, after which the sensory experience can begin: fragrant, nurturing foam rising to waist height and the soft refractions of light, accompanied by relaxing sounds, transport you to distant worlds. Aromatic influences, a shimmering play of light and beneficial foam clouds offer everything from pleasant relaxation to childlike bathing pleasure and nurturing foam experiences. During this phase, the body is gently warmed and prepared for the second bathing phase.

After a further addition of foam, the body is now comfortably enveloped in fragrant, nourishing foam up to chest level. The heated skin can be optimally supplied with moisture and cared for and massaged all around with natural essences. The interplay of fascinating light moods, dancing foam clouds and coordinated undulating sounds invites you to dream - a ceremony for all the senses.

A light drizzle of pleasantly warm water heralds the end of the programme. The foam collapses and what remains after the ESPURO® foam steam bath is a cared-for feeling all over the body. The heavenly bathing pleasure ends with a cold shower and a few steps into the fresh air.

ESPURO® Foam Essences: skin-friendly care

High skin compatibility and a nourishing effect were the main criteria in the development of KLAFS' own ESPURO® foam steam bath essences. The foam, specially developed by KLAFS for this application, consists of natural ingredients of plant origin, which are particularly nourishing and pamper the heated skin. A sophisticated formula ensures optimum foam production and excellent foam quality, which can be felt in every bubble. The padded, soft foam does not collapse and guarantees long-lasting pleasure and a pleasant experience.

In addition, the vegan care products are specially tested and suitable for sensitive skin. The coconut sulphates used are extracted directly from the coconut and, thanks to the long-chain fatty acids they contain, enable a much gentler and skin-friendly cleansing process compared to conventional agents. This is why the essences are also ISO 16128 certified for natural and organic cosmetic ingredients and products. The Dermatest Institute has also rated all ESPURO® foam steam bath essences as 'very good' for sensitive skin.

The caring effect of the foam also convinces medical experts. Prof. Dr. med. Karl-Ludwig Resch of the German Institute for Health Research in Hof/Saale: "Foam is an ideal carrier for high-quality skin care products and is particularly gentle and works long-lastingly, as a large volume can be produced with small amounts of substance. The active ingredients can be applied to the skin with gentle strokes - much better dosed than those in oils or creams."

Whether in hotels, spas, thermal baths or cruise ships - wherever guests are looking for wellness, relaxation and something special at the same time, the new ESPURO® foam steam bath is the right investment. Facility operators not only create a very special experience, never before seen in a similar form, they also position themselves with a unique selling point that their guests will remember for a long time. The foam experience is a real enrichment in the spa and creates great enthusiasm among all guests - whether young or old. This was also the experience of (hotel) guests at the Wald- und Schlosshotel Friedrichsruhe, where the ESPURO® foam steam bath was installed for the first time: "We integrated the ESPURO® foam steam bath in our spa with high expectations and these were eventually even exceeded. Our guests are thrilled by the unique, exhilarating foam experience, which is similar to what they previously only knew from updraft ceremonies in saunas. But in contrast to the intense heat of a rising, the nurturing foam brings only a light, soothing warmth, which in combination with the light and sound show becomes a very special experience," says spa manager Gabriela Noschka. The 4400 m² wellness oasis of the five-star hotel, which won the 'Continent Winner Europe' award in the 'Luxury Spa Resort' category at the 'World Luxury Spa Awards 2022', thus offers a new, unique highlight.

To ensure maximum flexibility, the fully equipped ESPURO® foam steam bath can be newly installed. The foam is produced via an integrated foam outlet and introduced into the cabin. There is also the option of extending existing steam baths or other hot sweat baths from KLAFS, such as mud baths, hammams or caldariums as a conversion variant. Here, a foam outlet is attached to the ceiling, allowing foam to flow into the cabin from outside.

Low cleaning effort thanks to automatic disinfection

As with all KLAFS products for hotels, spas and public facilities, features such as a smooth bathing process, the lowest possible energy consumption and minimum cleaning effort are of primary importance. In the case of the new ESPURO® foam steam bath, the latter was worked out in collaboration with the accredited hygiene laboratory WHU GmbH (Water, Hygiene, Environment) and Dipl. Ing. Dr Arno Sorger. Verified by expert advice, the hygiene concept guarantees optimal and efficient cleaning after each bathing session. Within the shortest possible time, the foam is sprinkled and dissolved by special nozzles and does not reach the area outside the steam bath. At the touch of a button, all water-carrying pipes are rinsed and disinfected. Thanks to this advanced cleaning and hygiene concept, not only does every guest feel safe and completely at ease, but the foam experience is also completely worry-free for the operators of this facility.
