This year Ghent Tastes will once again be looking for Ghent's Most Child-Friendly Restaurant. From 1 to 31 March, children can cast their votes. So go out with your family, visit one or more of the participating restaurants and let the children decide which five restaurants will make it to the finals during Gent Smaakt 2026.
From the entries, we selected seven Ghent restaurants that stand out for their focus on families with children. The nominees are: Cremerie Gerard, Fluo club, Le Botaniste, Mémé Gusta, Rabot Dumpling House, Taco Santo EN Valeir.
Explore together with the kids, taste what these restaurants have to offer and then cast your vote.
The restaurants will be judged on diversity, health and playfulness. The five restaurants with the highest score will advance to the finals and receive a place in the Children's Restaurant during Gent Smaakt 2026.
In the Kinderrestaurant, children between 9 and 14 years get the chance to run a real restaurant. Under the guidance of experienced Ghent chefs from the five nominated restaurants, they crawl into different roles, such as chef, waiter or bartender. This way, they discover in a playful way how a restaurant works: from preparing dishes to serving guests.

The final will take place during Ghent Smaakt, from 13 to 17 May in the centre of Ghent. Retrieved from Friday 15 May the five finalists will take part in the Children's Restaurant. The final winner will be chosen by the children and a panel of judges.
