New Whatsapp service now makes 'greener overnight stays' even easier
From today, hotel guests at several hotels will have the option to skip daily room cleaning thanks to Lacoly's WhatsApp service. In return, the hotel will plant a tree through Hotels for Trees, founded in 2021. Founder and Chief Tree Planting Officer Floris Licht: "I am immensely proud of the further professionalisation of our impactful initiative. Previously, guests indicated their desire to skip the daily room cleaning during their stay by means of a door hanger, among other things. With Lacoly's deployment, guests can now communicate this prior to or during their multi-day stay via WhatsApp. This is a win-win, both for hotels and guests. For instance, hotels work with more efficient cleaning schedules and it becomes easier for hotel guests to make sustainable choices." The WhatsApp service is available immediately for Hotels for Trees' already connected and new partner hotels.
The hotel industry can make an even more accessible impact with Lacoly's new WhatsApp service. Hotels for Trees was able to plant 75,000 trees last year by offering guests the choice to skip room cleaning. Floris Licht: "We aim to plant more than 1 million trees a year from 2025. In doing so, we are constantly looking at how we can reach more guests in a better way. WhatsApp is an ideal communication platform for that."
Since the introduction of Lacoly last year, thousands of guests receive information about their stay via WhatsApp on a daily basis. In most cases, this happens prior to their stay, allowing the guest to read up calmly and have the opportunity to make the stay even more enjoyable. Dirk Taselaar, founder Lacoly: "With WhatsApp, we share information about the stay, we can make interesting offers and from now on, we thus offer hotel guests to make sustainable choices. I am very happy about the new partnership we are entering into with Hotels for Trees. I notice that there are still many steps to be taken to make the hotel industry more sustainable. It's great that we can make a valuable contribution to this from Lacoly."
