After 30 years, family business B.K.A. Group is no longer only operator, but also owner of Nova Hotel Amsterdam. At the same time, the new generation with Olivier Berendsen takes over the management of his parents.
After 30 years of operation, Nova Hotel Amsterdam is now fully owned by B.K.A. Group. This family business of Marcel and Lilly Berendsen, has bought the real estate of the three-star, 67-room hotel on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. At the same time, the family is handing over the daily management to the new generation: son Olivier Berendsen (35) is taking over.
With the purchase of the property, B.K.A. Group is taking an important step in the future of Nova Hotel Amsterdam. The hotel consists of five front houses and three back houses - some of them national monuments - and is located on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, right next to the Postzegelmarkt and a stone's throw from Dam Square. It has been a favourite address for both business and leisure guests for years.

The ownership takeover enables targeted investments in sustainability and further development of the hotel. At the same time, an important changing of the guard takes place: Olivier Berendsen joins as a shareholder and takes over the management from his parents, who have built the hotel since the 1990s.
"After 30 years of operation, we now also have the premises themselves in family hands. That feels particularly good, because to us this hotel is more than real estate: it is a historic piece of Amsterdam and an important part of our lives. Olivier taking over now completes the circle," says Marcel Berendsen.
Olivier Berendsen: "Hospitality and entrepreneurship were always part of our family; my parents met at the Hotel School and I completed the same education. I am proud to continue their work while adding my own direction. With ownership in our own hands, we can invest in renovation and sustainability so that the hotel is ready for the future."
