On 27 October 2026, BWH Hotels announced a major strategic change. The international hotel organisation is bringing together more than 4,000 hotels and 18 brands in over 100 countries under the umbrella brand name WorldHotels. Part of this change is the introduction of a single, unified loyalty programme, WorldHotels Rewards, which will launch on 5 January 2027.
With its new brand structure, WorldHotels aims to raise awareness of its entire range of hotels and provide greater clarity for both travellers and hotel owners. The organisation also aims to stimulate growth through a shared platform and improved digital services.
According to WorldHotels, consumer research and guest feedback show that many travellers are only familiar with a fraction of the existing range of hotels. By bringing the various brands together under a single umbrella name, the organisation aims to make it easier for travellers to discover and book hotels across its entire portfolio.
The individual hotel brands will retain their own identities. The identity, façade signage and existing branding of individual hotels will also remain unchanged.
A key part of the change is the merger of Best Western Rewards and WorldHotels Rewards into a single, combined loyalty programme. The new WorldHotels Rewards comprises approximately 70 million existing members and will be launched on 5 January 2027.
The programme will have three membership tiers. Existing benefits, including status matching, special member rates and points that do not expire, will remain in place. Members will also retain the current value of their accumulated points. In addition, they will have more opportunities to earn points and access to a wider, interconnected range of hotels.
WorldHotels will announce further details about the new loyalty programme on 16 November 2026.
As well as the rebranding, WorldHotels is investing in its digital infrastructure. The organisation is launching a new website and an updated mobile app.
At the heart of the initiative is a proprietary digital discovery platform, developed on the basis of more than 10,000 hours of insights from hotel staff worldwide. With this, WorldHotels aims to help travellers discover hotels, neighbourhoods and local experiences.
The digital tools should also make it easier to manage bookings and loyalty schemes. WorldHotels aims to use this to increase visibility for hotel owners and create more opportunities for direct bookings.
As part of the new structure, the upmarket and luxury hotels within the portfolio will be brought together under WorldHotels Collection. This international platform focuses on independent hotels that retain their own identity whilst, at the same time, benefiting from the commercial opportunities, technology and distribution power of an international hotel organisation.
WorldHotels Collection comprises six categories: WorldHotels Luxury, WorldHotels Elite, WorldHotels Distinctive, WorldHotels Crafted, WorldHotels Backdrop and WorldHotels Residences.
With WorldHotels Residences, the organisation focuses on a combination of private home ownership, luxury hotel services and brand loyalty. WorldHotels Backdrop focuses on unique destinations where natural surroundings and high-quality accommodation come together.
Through these initiatives, WorldHotels aims to offer new growth opportunities to developers, hotel owners and independent operators.
Although the organisation is bringing together its global brands, loyalty programme and digital services, local expertise remains a key principle.
WorldHotels aims to make the expertise of thousands of independent hoteliers within its international network more accessible to travellers. This includes, amongst other things, local recommendations and insights from hotel staff about their destination.
According to Larry Cuculic, President and Chief Executive Officer of WorldHotels, the new structure is intended to make it easier for travellers to understand the full range of options on offer. At the same time, the organisation aims to better enable hotel owners to compete internationally, without losing their independence and unique character.
With the transition to WorldHotels, the hotel organisation is opting for a single global umbrella brand, whilst retaining the existing hotel brands and the individual identities of the member hotels.
