Emmy Stoel appointed General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium, Amsterdam

Award-winning Dutch hotelier returns to Amsterdam to take the helm of a luxury hotel destination.

Mandarin Oriental is proud to announce the appointment of Emmy Chair as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Conservatoire, Amsterdam . Stoel is known as a respected leader in the international luxury hospitality sector and is returning to Amsterdam from InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest, where she worked as General Manager.

With more than three decades of international experience Stoel is renowned for her people-centred leadership style, operational expertise and ability to create exceptional guest experiences and build strong links with the local community.

Return to Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a key recurring theme in Stoel’s career. Previously, she was at the helm of both Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam if Hotel Okura Amsterdam, where Stoel distinguished himself by developing teams that operate at the highest level, achieving commercial success and strengthening the links between both hotels and the city.

In 2023, Stoel was named by the European Hotel Managers Association as European Hotel Manager of the Year. The award recognised not only her achievements as a hotelier, but also her commitment to sustainability, diversity and inclusion, and talent development.

Stoel is joining the Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium following a significant milestone in the hotel’s history: the launch of the Mandarin Oriental brand in the Netherlands under the leadership of Susanne Hatje. Building on this strong foundation, Stoel will lead the hotel into its next phase and further establish the Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium as the city’s leading luxury destination, for both international guests and the people of Amsterdam.

Stoel’s focus in this regard includes further refining the hotel’s culinary and wellness experiences, attracting and developing exceptional talent, and further embedding the hotel within Amsterdam’s cultural and creative community.
