A vibrant start with Albania as host country

The official opening took place on 3 March with an impressive ceremony centred on Albania as the host country. Prime Minister Edi Rama of Albania underlined his country's growing popularity as a travel destination, especially among German tourists, at the opening conference. Prominent speakers such as Kai Wegner (reigning mayor of Berlin), Zurab Pololikashvili (secretary-general of UN Tourism) and Dr Mario Tobias (CEO of Messe Berlin) also gave their views on the future of tourism.

Highlights and trends at ITB Berlin 2025

Besides a wide range of exhibitors, ITB Berlin offers a rich programme of presentations, panel discussions and networking opportunities. One of the most discussed topics is the impact of digitalisation and artificial intelligence on the travel industry. According to Mitra Sorrells, SVP Content at Phocuswright, AI is an important asset for the industry, although adjustments are still needed to realise its full potential.

In addition, the ITB Berlin presents its first ITB Travel & Tourism Report 2025/2026, which analyses the latest developments and strategies in the international travel industry. This report provides valuable insights for investors, policymakers and companies in the sector.
