Handwritten Collection reaches the milestone of 50 hotels worldwide

The distinctive hotel collection is continuing its international expansion, with 50 hotels now open and a further 50-plus hotels under development

Handwritten Collection, the collection of unique hotels launched by Accor in 2023, today announces a significant milestone with the opening of its 50th hotel. The brand is now present in 20 countries and has more than 50 hotels currently under development.

The Handwritten Collection has been developed for travellers seeking stories, not just a place to stay. The collection brings together exceptional establishments where every detail reflects the personality of the host or hostess and the soul of the destination. Each hotel is carefully curated, prioritising character over standardisation and authenticity over uniformity. This ensures that the unique identity of each location is preserved for curious travellers with an open mind, who value emotional connections and meaningful experiences.

This milestone follows a series of recent openings around the world, including Hotel Rathauspark Vienna – Handwritten Collection (Austria), Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao – Handwritten Collection (China), and Château de Mazan – Handwritten Collection (France), with each hotel, with its own character and story, contributing to this growing collection of unique destinations.

“The Handwritten Collection celebrates individuality in hospitality and the power of human connections,” said Jean-Yves Minet, Global Brand President, Midscale & Economy at Accor. “Reaching the milestone of 50 hotels reflects the growing demand for stays that feel personal and genuine, and are characterised by authentic stories. At the same time, it offers independent hotels the opportunity to become part of a global collection brand and thus connect with an international audience of travellers seeking unique stories and experiences.”

A growing collection full of stories

As Handwritten Collection reaches the milestone of 50 hotels, the brand continues to expand into new destinations worldwide and attracts hoteliers who share the same passion for storytelling, design and genuine hospitality. Although each hotel is unique, every location is selected based on quality and experience criteria that guarantee a distinctive guest experience. The development pipeline currently comprises more than 50 hotels set to join the collection in the coming years, each shaped by the personality of the host or hostess and the richness of their stories.

“Reaching 50 hotels so quickly is a fantastic achievement, but it’s only the start of the journey,” said Camil Yazbeck, Global Chief Development Officer, Premium, Midscale & Economy at Accor. “With more than 50 hotels under development and many more projects under negotiation, we are seeing strong growth momentum for the Handwritten Collection worldwide. Hotel owners are drawn to a model that allows them to retain their hotel’s identity and story, whilst at the same time benefiting from the strength of the brand and Accor. Thanks to Accor’s integrated 360-degree solutions covering sales, marketing, distribution, loyalty, procurement, technology, sustainability, design and technical services, partners can increase their revenue and protect their margins. This growing pipeline reflects the increasing demand for distinctive, conversion-focused brands that embrace individuality whilst delivering strong commercial results. We therefore look forward with confidence to the continued international growth of the Handwritten Collection.”

Jean-Yves adds: “This milestone takes on extra significance due to the diversity of the collection itself and reaffirms the strength of the brand. From historic residences and cultural landmarks to contemporary retreats: each hotel offers a unique reflection of its location and personality. As we continue to grow, our ambition remains as clear as ever: to create a collection in which the individuality of hoteliers is not only preserved but actually enhanced, and in which guests are invited to enjoy experiences that are authentically human, rooted in the local community and emotionally meaningful.”

One of the most striking future additions is Treasure Island TI Las Vegas – Handwritten Collection. This will be the brand’s second hotel in the United States and also marks the Handwritten Collection’s debut in Las Vegas. The hotel is situated in one of the most iconic hotels on The Strip and is home to Cirque du Soleil’s renowned show, *Mystère*.

Hotels curated with passion: Recent openings

At Handwritten Collection, every location tells an authentic story. From historic buildings to contemporary retreats, each hotel reflects the character of the people who look after it with passion, creating environments where guests feel genuinely welcome and connected.

Rooted in careful curation, the collection celebrates a more personal way of travelling. Through thoughtful design, meaningful details and the personal expression of the host or hostess, every stay becomes a story shaped by the place, the people and shared experiences.

Each new opening reinforces the collection’s identity and brings together distinctive hotels where stories, design and hospitality are thoughtfully interwoven. Recent additions to the portfolio include:
