Textile excellence for the global market: Heimtextil 2027 brings together interior design, quality and global sourcing

Textile excellence for the global market: Heimtextil 2027 brings together interior design, quality and global sourcing

Frankfurt am Main, September 2026. With the new premium segment ‘Carpets & Rugs Excellence’, the ‘Comfort & Connect’ zone and ‘Heimtextil Trends 27/28’, Heimtextil 2027 is refining its offering for a market under pressure. Nowadays, textile products must prove their quality, functionality and long-term value. From 12 to 15 January 2027, the leading trade fair for homeand contract textiles and textile design will present relevant innovations across the entire value chain: from fibres and yarns to designs by international studios and emerging talent, and from finished collections and functional contract textiles to complete interior solutions.

Increasingly complex demands are shaping the market for home and interior products. Consumers are taking a more critical look at price, quality, functionality and sustainability. At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty is making it more difficult to plan international supply chains. Designers and buyers are looking for textiles that perform reliably in everyday use, as well as partners who can consistently deliver the agreed quality and volumes – now and in the future. Against this backdrop, Heimtextil 2027 remains on a par with the previous year. Around 2,900 exhibitors confirm the event’s stability and international relevance. “In a market that is becoming increasingly difficult to predict, quality, reliability and strong personal relationships are of paramount importance. At Heimtextil, trade visitors can experience materials for themselves, discuss their needs directly with manufacturers and find production partners who can supply the required volumes. This combination of product experience, an international range and personal interaction makes Heimtextil a reliable strategic partner for the industry – especially in a challenging market,” said Olaf Schmidt, Vice President of Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt.

Between performance and lighting – Heimtextil Trends 27/28

Under the title “Home-Maxxing – The Performance of Everyday Living” Heimtextil and the Milan-based design platform are investigating Alcova A key tension in our ever-more-optimised daily lives: spaces must be capable of doing more and more, without placing greater demands on the people who use them. Heimtextil Trends 27/28 translates this idea into three practical approaches to textile and surface design:

  • Staged Competence responds to the need for visible performance: codes, figures and micrographics make technical sophistication and sustainability an integral part of the aesthetics.
  • Inside, Out makes complex technology easier to understand, for example through visible seams, straps, zips and replaceable covers.
  • Hyper Presence provides a counterbalance to digital overstimulation through a rich tactile experience: natural fibres, rough surfaces, folds and patina allow one to feel the character and ageing of materials.

The trends also provide concrete inspiration for planning and product development: performance becomes visible, constructions become easier to understand and material quality becomes tangible. In this way, the Heimtextil Trends 27/28 offer key guidelines for the retail, design and industrial sectors in the development of future collections, products and spaces.
The Trend Space will also welcome a new influential voice from the world of design. Architect and designer Patricia Urquiola She is incorporating her own designs into the presentation of Heimtextil Trends 27/28, thereby continuing the material research she undertook at previous Heimtextil editions. The focus is on both new work and the further development of existing ideas. With Alcova as curator and Patricia Urquiola adding her own perspective, Heimtextil once again brings together leading Milanese design expertise in Frankfurt.
