Creating a unique atmosphere in hotels goes beyond simply matching light and sound. With a comprehensive range of services in lighting, sound, video, home automation and electrical engineering, dEP offers the Atmosphere Designers hotels the expertise needed to create a cohesive and dynamic guest experience. For 35 years, dEP has delivered turn-key solutions that contribute to a lasting impression, matching the vision of each hotel.
dEP the Atmosphere Designers supports hotels with a complete approach. With services that include lighting, sound, video home automation and electrical engineering, dEP guides hotels from the initial sketch design to the delivery and maintenance of the installation. In doing so, dEP translates the client's wishes into a unique, customised experience. "Every space has its own specific requirements," explains Marketing Manager Jordy Slob. "For example, a lobby requires subtle lighting and soothing sound, while a restaurant benefits from fuller sounds and striking lighting elements. In addition, hotels increasingly have special rooms and suites with their own character, which we are particularly strong in."
"We choose products that match the interior and provide high-quality lighting," Slob continues. "So no light lines on which you can see the individual LEDs." dEP distinguishes itself from similar companies by its brand-independent approach. Solutions are chosen for each project to suit the specific look of the space. dEP also offers custom lighting for specific applications, from custom-made table lamps to artistic luminaires. For Holland Casino Enschede, for example, dEP designed and fitted unique pendant elements that are fully coordinated with the interior. "Our work goes beyond standard lighting. We have a regular metal partner with whom we have worked for years, but we incorporate the technical elements into such luminaires ourselves."
For Boutique Hotel Blendin in Bloemendaal, dEP provided a total package that fit well with the seaside location. "We therefore kept the design subtle and calm, with accents such as LED lines at the bottle awning and lighting for the display case with animals. A special eye-catcher is a fixture we put together that hangs in the restaurant."
With the growing demand for automation, home automation is becoming an increasingly important part of dEP's range of services. Home automation offers flexible settings, such as day, evening and night modes, and allows operation of the entire system via a single controller. "Our home automation installations offer comfort as well as energy efficiency," says Slob. Thanks to integrated sensors, lighting switches automatically in corridors and communal areas, providing both convenience and energy savings. In addition, dEP integrates home automation with other systems in the hotel, such as alarm and AV systems. "Bringing these systems together used to be a complex challenge that rarely proved feasible. Our approach stands out because we have successfully integrated these systems, despite the technical complexity and unique requirements involved in this process."
dEP is keenly aware of the importance of good service and maintenance for hotels. "A periodic maintenance contract helps prevent breakdowns and extends the lifespan of the installations," says Slob. Hotels with specific requirements, such as sustainable lighting or energy-efficient systems, can also count on sound, tailor-made advice and guidance.
To give customers a clear picture of the possibilities, dEP regularly takes them to previous projects or shows reference images of similar realisations. The company also provides product sheets so that customers know exactly which products and systems are being installed. "Our goal is to establish a solid atmosphere from the ground up. Once that is in place, we see if we can add details that bring the space to life further."
