Why go inside when it’s so lovely outside?

Perfect protection from the sun and the weather

With the M3ELF adventure park in Obermarchtal, Germany, Peter Faad and Heiko Heitele have opened a truly special adventure park: adventure golf, an artificial ice rink for curling, pétanque courts, a putting green, a hole-in-one course, and much more. What’s more, a chic restaurant with a stylish outdoor area invites you to linger a little longer.

Architect Rapp of Rapp Architekten Ulm and the two operators of the M3ELF were involved in the planning and design from the outset. With 120 seats inside, there were plenty of catering options for corporate events, weddings and similar occasions. Up to 150 additional seats were planned for the outdoor area. To make the best use of this space, a partial canopy using Warema’s Lamaxa roof system was chosen. The perfect protection against the elements not only provided shade but also led to a significantly higher uptake of the outdoor space for catering – almost all year round.

A cosy outdoor atmosphere – LED lighting and patio heaters ensure a high standard of comfort and a welcoming atmosphere.

The modular Lamaxa star-shaped installation, which is mounted on the façade of the angular building, covers an area of 108 square metres. The slender posts with their elegant, tall crossbeams harmonise perfectly with the building’s architecture. Large glazed sections are framed by delicate wooden posts, with the parapet resting on them emphasising the horizontal lines of the elongated building. The Lamaxa star system has been installed in line with the wooden uprights, causing the louvre roof to be offset from the building’s structure and creating elegant sightlines and walkways.

Slatted roof

With the outdoor installation already operational, the building already under management, and the foundations for the uprights pre-cast: the contracted specialist firm Seeger from Nattheim ensured perfect installation conditions in advance, working in close collaboration with Warema’s HoReCa project team. In a week-long assembly process, four louvre roof panels were seamlessly joined to form a 9 by 12 metre cluster system. A visual and structural highlight: as with all Lamaxa cluster installations, the central posts have the same slender dimensions as the outer posts. The Lamaxa L50 louvre roof was fitted with swivelling louvres and side awnings with all-round easyZIP guidance: perfect protection against wind and weather. The direct and indirect lighting provided by LED strips in the crossbeams also creates a cosy atmosphere in the evenings. Designer radiant heaters ensure comfortable temperatures even on cooler days. The system is easy to operate via a WMS handheld transmitter, or optionally via a smartphone. The WMS Weather Station Plus records precipitation, wind speed, light intensity and frost, and ensures that the louvre roof closes automatically in the event of rain, for example.

Even now, less than half a year after it opened, Peter Faad and Heiko Heitele have already drawn a positive conclusion: “We’ve been more than surprised by the extremely positive feedback from our guests. It seems that eating outdoors is just as much fun as being outdoors.”
