After a large-scale restoration and redevelopment, Het Spaansche Hof in The Hague will open its doors on Saturday 9 May. Restored to its former glory by developer REBORN over the past two and a half years, the national monumental city palace from 1469 will once again be given an open and vibrant function in the city. The rooms and spaces will be opened up for rental, with a focus on business events, weddings and other gatherings. A new accommodation concept will also soon be introduced through a hotel function, based on self check-in and privacy. With functions for meeting, accommodation and programming, a city garden and the planned opening of a wine bar in the autumn, Het Spaansche Hof is developing into a location where different uses come together.

Het Spaansche Hof is one of the oldest and most unusual city palaces in The Hague. The building from 1469 served as Gerrit van Assendelft's residence and had a variety of functions over the centuries. In 1677, for instance, it was used as the Spanish embassy, from which the building takes its name. The board pensioner Johan de Witt also lived there.
When REBORN purchased the property in 2020, the city palace had lost much of its luster and allure due to years of overdue maintenance and vacancy. In early 2024, the complex restoration began, resulting in a future-proof national monument that in 2026 will once again fully participate in city life in The Hague. Ralf Meppelder, managing director of REBORN Hospitality, is pleased to announce that Het Spaansche Hof will soon reopen its doors: “With the reopening, we are giving an iconic piece of Hague heritage back to the city. The monument has a future again and is once again being actively used and experienced. We recently received positive reactions when the building was temporarily used as a voting location during the municipal elections. They confirm how much this place is appreciated. We look forward to welcoming everyone”.
The restored Spaansche Hof will have a mix of functions that reinforce each other and give the monument an active role in the city again. In cooperation with people@places, the characterful rooms will be opened up for rental, with a focus on high-quality events, weddings and business meetings such as company anniversaries and receptions. At the same time, the arrival of the hotel NUMA introduces an updated form of accommodation, where self check-in goes hand in hand with the grandeur of the classic monumental building. The hotel is currently undergoing a trial run. When it opens for bookings will be communicated later. In addition, the venue features an indoor garden as an extension of the building and the wine bar that will open its doors in the autumn.
