ADA Cosmetics Refillution has been independently certified by TÜV SÜD and combines efficiency, traceability, hygiene and guest safety. At the same time, the system supports compliance with key cosmetics regulations.
ADA Cosmetics has announced a significant milestone for the global hospitality sector: TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH has independently confirmed that ADA Cosmetics Refillution is a refill system for hotel cosmetics that complies with the applicable regulations. TÜV SÜD is a globally recognised German organisation specialising in testing, inspection and certification.
The certification relates to compliance with ISO 22716 Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for cosmetics and to the batch traceability requirements set out in the European Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. This is particularly important because hotel cosmetics — just like cosmetics sold in retail outlets — must meet strict requirements in terms of hygiene, safety, documentation and traceability. Controlled processes and reliable product registration are therefore essential for refill systems.
Now that sustainability and efficiency programmes are accelerating the rise of refill solutions in the hospitality sector, an important question arises: can every refill operation demonstrably meet the level of traceability and documentation required by cosmetics regulations?
For hotels, refill systems are not only a sustainable choice, but also a business opportunity. ADA Cosmetics Refillution helps to reduce plastic waste by up to 95%, cut product consumption by up to 30% and achieve cost savings of up to 30%.
The system has been specially developed for day-to-day hotel operations. Bespoke trays and trolleys support efficient housekeeping processes, whilst the 10-litre SmartCubes empty completely to ensure maximum product utilisation. ADA Cosmetics Refillution is compatible with all ADA Cosmetics dispenser solutions. This allows hotels to retain flexibility in terms of brands, product ranges and room concepts.

The assessment by TÜV SÜD focused on the system’s hygienic design, controlled dosing and refilling processes, cleanability, process safety, technical documentation and the traceability of products and batches.
Particular attention was paid to the integrated traceability concept of ADA Cosmetics Refillution. Thanks to its identification and tracking functions, cosmetic products, refill units and refill operations can be verifiably linked to one another. This supports compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
“Now that refill systems are becoming the new standard in the hospitality sector, sustainability alone is no longer enough,” says Gerd von Podewils, CMO of ADA Cosmetics.
“Hotels and hotel groups are increasingly required to assess whether their refill processes meet the same standards for hygiene, documentation and traceability that apply to cosmetics sold in retail outlets. This is not only a sustainability issue, but also a compliance matter. We are proud that TÜV SÜD has independently confirmed that ADA Cosmetics Refillution is a refill system that complies with the regulations. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first independent confirmation of its kind within the hospitality sector.”
ADA Cosmetics Refillution is available worldwide and offers hotel groups, independent hotels and hospitality partners a practical solution for the more efficient, sustainable, traceable and compliant management of hotel cosmetics.
