Stayokay Hostels back in Brabant with new hostel at Strijp-S in Eindhoven

Netherlands' largest hostel chain Stayokay has taken over the operation of the Blue Collar Hotel in Eindhoven from 1 February 2024. This makes it Stayokay's 21st hostel in the Netherlands and gives Stayokay a renewed presence in the province of Noord-Brabant.

Marijke Schreiner, managing director of Stayokay Hostels: " Eindhoven had been high on our wish list for some time as a location to open a hostel. We are very happy that we can now offer our guests a nice stay in Eindhoven as well. Our newest hostel is located at Strijp-S, a unique and characterful area within the city."

A place for everyone

Although the hotel will additionally have hostel rooms, it will retain the atmosphere and character of the Blue Collar Hotel. Marijke Schreiner said: "A wonderful concept has been put down by Bart and Sis van den Dijssel and their team. It is distinctive and appealing to many national and international guests. It will also continue to breathe this atmosphere under the Stayokay banner."

Bart and Siska van den Dijssel, founders of the Blue Collar Hotel, are confidently handing over the baton to Stayokay. "After 10 years of working heart and soul on the success of the Blue Collar Hotel, we are now transferring the hotel to Stayokay with pleasure, but also a little pain in our hearts. We are convinced that Stayokay, like no other, can ensure that it remains accessible and a place for everyone."

Phased transition

Stayokay is taking over an ongoing operation and will make a number of changes in stages by 2024. For example, more beds will be added and the Stayokay name will become visible. The unique bar/restaurant concept on the ground floor will continue to carry the name Blue Collar and will remain a place where, besides hostel guests, the residents of Eindhoven and far beyond are welcome to enjoy a delicious lunch or a cosy drink. Meetings and parties will also remain among the possibilities. 

Growth ambitions

The acquisition of the Blue Collar Hotel is part of Stayokay's growth strategy to offer affordable & sustainable accommodation in more places in the Netherlands. This can be done by taking over existing ho(s)tel operations, but also by redeveloping properties that currently have a different purpose.
