Hotel Spakenburg – Sweeping views of the beach and the water

At the ’t Kleine Zeetje leisure beach in Bunschoten-Spakenburg, the new Fletcher Hotel Spakenburg is gradually taking shape. The project, designed by AGB van Dijk and built by HBE Bouw, combines striking architecture with high-quality materials. Within this overall design, Aliplast’s aluminium joinery plays a key role, both aesthetically and technically.

The hotel comprises 77 modern rooms, a stylish Marina Lounge and a spacious terrace directly overlooking the water. Thanks to its location next to the beach and the marina, it is a place where experience, comfort and views take centre stage. Large windows ensure that the surrounding landscape is brought into the building as much as possible.

A well-considered choice of system

For the joinery work, a combination of aluminium systems from Aliplast was chosen, manufactured and installed by window manufacturer Vierboer. Each system was selected to meet specific architectural and technical requirements.

The Futural system was used for the windows; this is a well-insulated system with a shallow installation depth of 65 mm. In combination with the FR90 system, which offers fire-resistant properties, this ensures not only comfort but also safety within the building.

The large glass façades and transparent areas were constructed using the MC Wall curtain wall system. “This system makes it possible to create large glass surfaces with a minimalist look and excellent performance in terms of wind and water tightness,” explains Marc Mulders, sales manager at Aliplast. “This maximises the connection between the interior and exterior.”

The New Panorama folding wall system was also chosen. Marc Mulders goes on to say: “This system allows wide openings to be created, which is essential for making the most of the panoramic view.”

All the systems were finished in colour 7006LC, which contributes to the building’s uniform and contemporary appearance and fits in perfectly with the architectural vision.

Transparency

AGB van Dijk’s design places a strong emphasis on horizontal lines and visual connections with the surrounding area. Aluminium composite panels create a clear distinction between the storeys, whilst the large glazed sections open up the building to the waterside landscape.

Thanks to the properties of aluminium, large spans and slender profiles can be combined perfectly. This results in a light and open architecture that is not only aesthetically striking, but also contributes to the comfort of its users.

Sustainability and performance

The hotel’s completely gas-free design calls for high-performance building solutions. Aliplast’s aluminium systems make a significant contribution to this thanks to their excellent thermal insulation properties. This helps to reduce the building’s energy consumption and optimise the indoor climate.

In addition, the systems ensure a high level of airtightness and watertightness, which is essential given their exposed location by the water. Aluminium is also exceptionally durable and low-maintenance, meaning it retains its quality and appearance in the long term.

“For us, sustainability goes beyond just energy performance,” says Mulders. “It’s also about the choice of materials, service life and long-term aesthetic quality. Aluminium is 100 per cent recyclable and retains its properties even after decades of use.”

Construction is in full swing

Construction of the hotel is now in full swing. HBE Bouw is scheduled to complete the project in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which Fletcher Hotels will take the building into use.

Through the integration of Futural, MC Wall, New Panorama and FR90, this project demonstrates how Aliplast’s aluminium systems contribute to striking architecture, high performance and sustainable solutions. The result is a forward-looking hotel that not only makes a visual impression but is also technically equipped to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
