The IntercityHotel brand continues its growth in the Netherlands: the IntercityHotel Leiden has opened. There is as much to discover in the hotel as in the "city of discoveries" itself. When guests enter the lively lobby, the "CitySquare", they find themselves in an open designed space with many cosy seating areas for meeting people, working and relaxing. The urban design with city accents and elements from the region immediately introduces guests to the local culture.
"With the IntercityHotel Leiden, we are celebrating our second new opening in the Netherlands during this year. A warm thank you to our partners Commerz Real and also Synchroon and J.P. van Eesteren, with whom we have already successfully opened a hotel at the Breda location as well," said Denis Hüttig, Senior Vice President Operations H World International.
As "city scouts", the staff know Leiden inside out and are ready with insider tips. The new hotel is located directly at the central station, offers 115 rooms, a breakfast restaurant as well as a lounge with bar.
Henri van Dam, Director of Synchroon: "The aim of the new station area was to better connect the city centre and the Bio Science park. This aim fits in seamlessly with Synchroon's vision: developing areas that invite contact, because places that are accessible, safe and stimulating at the same time make our society stronger. Octagon Leiden is an excellent example of how Synchroon is realising its vision in practice."
Marco Peppel, Chief Executive Officer J.P. van Eesteren: "We warmly congratulate IntercityHotel and Synchroon on the opening of this beautiful hotel in the heart of Leiden city centre. After the completion of the IntercityHotel in Breda, we are proud to have also built this gem and to have contributed to the transformation of the railway station area in Leiden."
Leiden is located between Amsterdam and The Hague in South Holland, just a few kilometres from the North Sea coast. Leiden's city centre is like a big open-air museum: with its history-rich old centre, a total of 28 km of canals and town canals and 35 picturesque courtyards, Rembrandt's hometown makes for a picturesque holiday setting. The city's vibrant energy, including its nightlife, is helped by the numerous students of its two universities.
Erwin M. Bruyn, Country Manager Netherlands H World International: "The new IntercityHotel Leiden is a modern meeting point and at the same time a relaxed place to retreat - a place with city character, locally inspired. We look forward to the arrival of numerous guests."
The IntercityHotel Leiden is operated by H World International as lessee. The property is owned by Commerz Real Institutional European Hotel Fund. Project development and construction were carried out by Synchroon B.V. and J.P. van Eesteren B.V.
