Hotel ibis Tilburg is responding to the increasing demand for affordable and accessible accommodation in the Tilburg region by expanding significantly. The hotel will grow from 80 to 184 rooms. Construction started on Wednesday 18 June 2025 with the driving of the first pile for a new wing, which will include 104 additional rooms, an atmospheric relaxation area called The Hangout and a modern gym. With this expansion, Accor Hotels strengthens its position in the region as an accessible choice for both business travellers and families.
"Tilburg is in full swing - from festivals and events to the attraction of icons like the Efteling and Beekse Bergen. We want to be the accessible alternative for guests who want to stay comfortably and affordably and experience Brabant. With this expansion, we offer more space, more facilities and an even better experience," says Niek van den Broek, developer and co-owner of Hotel ibis Tilburg.
The extension offers more than just extra rooms. In The Hangout, guests can relax on the lounge sofa, play games on the air hockey table or snooker table, and gather around a large TV screen for a movie or sports game. Equipped with modern fitness equipment, the new gym will offer space for an active start to the day.
For families and families, 16 connecting rooms and 3 family rooms will be realised, perfect for a comfortable multi-day stay.
The new wing will have 104 rooms according to the international ibis Plaza concept. This design combines a contemporary, minimalist style with smart layouts offering maximum flexibility for solo travellers, couples, families and groups.
The existing rooms at ibis Tilburg have already been renovated in 2018 according to the ibis Sweet Room concept. This will soon bring together two innovative ibis concepts under one roof.
Sustainability is central to the design and construction. MulderBlauw Architecten drew up the design, BanBouw is the contractor. The technical installations were engineered by Thijs & Co and will be carried out by Jacobs Electro Groep, Sanders Airconditioning and Installatiebedrijf Snoeks. The interior will be provided by Van Zon Interieurbouw.
The first pile was struck on Wednesday 18 June 2025. The highest point of construction is expected in March 2026, after which the first guests will be welcomed in summer 2026. The grand opening is scheduled for September 2026.
