Leonardo Hotels launches rebranding of former Eden Hotels

Design hotel Maastricht becomes first converted hotel

Leonardo Hotels is proud to announce that Designhotel Maastricht is the first hotel within the Zien Group's recently acquired 12 Eden hotels to be transformed into a Leonardo Boutique Hotel. Starting this week, the hotel will continue under the name Leonardo Boutique Hotel Maastricht City Center. This marks the beginning of a large-scale rebranding of 12 acquired Dutch hotels, integrating the naming, branding and systems into the Leonardo network and also planning large-scale refurbishments.

Last year, the Leonardo Hotels Group acquired 12 hotels in the Netherlands. Besides Designhotel Maastricht, Leonardo Hotels added five hotels in Amsterdam to its portfolio, including the well-known Eden Hotel Amsterdam, the iconic The Manor, The Lancaster Amsterdam, the well-known Jan Luyken Amsterdam and The ED Amsterdam. With six more hotels at prime locations in major cities such as Babylon Hotel The Hague, Savoy Hotel Rotterdam, Crown Hotel Eindhoven, City Hotel Groningen, City Hotel Hengelo, Oranje Hotel Leeuwarden, Leonardo Hotels becomes one of the leading major hotel chains in the region. After rebranding and remodelling, the chain's portfolio in the Benelux consists of 28 hotels and more than 4,000 hotel rooms.

First step in transformation

This week, Designhotel Maastricht received its new name and a new logo on the façade, and the hotel's internal systems were completely transferred. This marked the first visible step in the transition to the Leonardo Hotels brand.

Maarten Benschop, General Manager of Leonardo Boutique Hotel Maastricht City

Center: "Our hotel is in a great location, perfect for welcoming German and Belgian guests in addition to the Dutch market. Now that we are part of a portfolio with 300 hotels in Europe, we expect to be able to respond to this even more strongly. I am enormously looking forward to welcoming these guests with pleasure and introducing them to the warm hospitality we offer here in Maastricht." Leonardo Boutique Hotel Maastricht City Center is just 200 metres from Maastricht Central Station and within walking distance of the Vrijthof square. The hotel attracts mainly leisure guests who can easily explore the cultural and culinary attractions of the Limburg city from the hotel. While service remains at the familiar high level, the rebranding offers opportunities to take the hotel to the next level. Opportunities for a thorough renovation are being explored, which will give the hotel a new, strengthened position in the market.

Growing in Benelux

The acquisition of Zien Group by the Leonardo Hotels Group is part of a broader growth strategy in the Benelux. With a portfolio of more than 300 hotels in Europe, including around 80 in Germany, the Leonardo Boutique Hotel Maastricht City Center will be able to respond even better to the needs of both Dutch and international guests. After Maastricht, the other 11 acquired hotels will gradually be integrated into the Leonardo family in the coming months.
