Blendin Bloemendaal wins 'Best New Boutique Hotel 2024′

Boutique Hotel Blendin Bloemendaal has been named Entree Awards 2024 Best New Boutique Hotel 2024. The jury praised the hotel for its "perfect balance between luxury and local authenticity" and commended owner Jeroen Postma's vision and architect Hans Kuijten's unique design, which blends perfectly with the surroundings.

Said the jury: "Guests will feel as if they have stepped into another world for a moment on arrival, where every detail - from typewriters to art objects - has been carefully tuned to support this story."

A unique design inspired by its surroundings

Located atop the Bloemendaal dune, Blendin opened its doors last year. The hotel has 49 luxury rooms and suites. The restobar serves breakfast, drinks, shared dining and high tea. Weather permitting, guests can enjoy the terrace with sea views. The annex contains a meeting venue, three suites and a sauna. On the roof is an infinity pool with sea views.

"I was commissioned to use a storyline to design a hotel by the sea, with a beach feel. Hip and not too dark," says Hans Kuijten, who designed the interior in collaboration with dEP de Sfeerontwerpers (light and sound) and Arno van den Berg of RH Interieurs. The storyline, created by Roemer Overdiep of InLeisure, is based on the books and drawings of renowned local conservationist Jac. P. Thijsse. The exterior of the hotel was designed by Diederendirrix of Eindhoven.

Jury report

The jury praised Blendin Bloemendaal's concept that "breathes the story of Jac. P. Thijsse and the surrounding nature". On arrival, guests get the feeling of stepping into another world for a moment, where every detail - from typewriters to art objects - has been carefully tuned to support this story. For example, local artist duo and Sinke & Van Tongeren created a large artwork in the lobby, inspired by the flora and fauna in the area.

Facilities and design

"Blendin's facilities are of excellent quality, with comfortable beds, luxurious bathrooms and a private infinity pool overlooking the sea." The design is described as "a work of art in itself", with every detail adding to the experience.

Sustainability

"The hotel has been built as sustainably as possible, with installations such as heat pumps and other energy-efficient features. From the windows to the timbers in the facade, every element has been deliberately chosen to minimise its impact on the environment. By focusing on both experience and sustainability, they have built a hotel that is not only financially successful, but also meaningful for their guests."
