Design and architecture 

The exterior of the building was designed by Marc Koehler Architects. Historic shipping docks and the area's industrial roots were the sources of inspiration for building project Republica Amsterdam, of which Bob W is part. During construction and design, great attention was paid to sustainability. For instance, energy is used sparingly and there are plenty of innovative designs by Amsterdam artists. Various local talents have thrown themselves into the functional yet unique design of the flats & design lofts. From the entrance to the rooms and other amenities, everything has been thought through in detail and it shows. Bob W is always looking for perfectly fitting and local cooperation partners with innovative and visionary ideas. The results of this are worth noting. All designs have a connection to the city and both the culture, history and innovative elements of Amsterdam are linked in practical elements and art. 

Kota Company played a major role in the design lofts' interior design. The studio has previously worked with big names such as Dutch star designer Marcel Wanders and his company Moooi and renowned Swedish design studio Snask. 

Commissioned by and in collaboration with Bob W, Amsterdam-based creative director Andràs Kelemen of Kota Company designed the Kota sofa bed, suitable for lounging as well as sleeping on and made of fabrics from recycled PET bottles. "This product was designed with Bob W's core values in mind and with the ambitious goal of creating the best of both worlds: a high-quality contemporary sofa and a super-comfortable bed, all-in-one," Andràs said. 

Design agency HollowayLi played a significant part in putting together the smart interior design. The custom-made furniture is not only practical, it is also pleasing to the eye. Local artist Don Drawings created stunning tapestries especially for Bob W with a special textile as a tribute to the city. Furthermore, the rooms feature specially designed cushions by décor company FEST Amsterdam.

Finally, a mention about the wallpaper's unique and innovative design, designed through AI, should not be missed. On it, iconic Dutch classic artworks, such as 'The girl with the pearl earring', are combined with contemporary Amsterdam. Thus, centuries-old history comes together with modern elements.
