From an inspirational website to a booking platform: DeVakantieGids.nl continues to grow

What began as a rainy search for a holiday for his own family has gradually grown into a platform for holidays in the Netherlands. DeVakantieGids.nl, founded by Frits Broer from Amersfoort, now offers inspiration, independent information and a growing selection of more than hundreds of holiday homes available to book. The ambition is to become the go-to platform where Dutch people can find inspiration, book holidays and learn more about the most beautiful places in their own country.

A personal problem to start with

The idea for DeVakantieGids.nl didn’t come about at a meeting table, but at home around the kitchen table. Broer and his family were looking for a holiday park for a holiday in the Netherlands. With a young daughter, he wanted a holiday park with a swimming pool, plenty of activities and a pleasant environment for both children and parents. During his search, he came across a familiar problem: many websites offered the same information, holiday parks all seemed similar, and it was difficult to work out which one would really suit his family.

“I found myself spending hours comparing websites. Everywhere I looked, I saw the same photos and marketing copy, but nowhere could I find a simple answer to the question: is this holiday really right for our family? That’s when I thought: there must be an easier way,” says Frits Broer.

The Netherlands deserves its own holiday guide

It was with this in mind that DeVakantieGids.nl was created. Not as a booking site, but as a guide to help people find a holiday that suits their needs.

In recent years, the platform has grown into a comprehensive website featuring information on holiday parks, holiday cottages, destinations, regions, day trips and places of interest in the Netherlands. 

The focus here is not just on well-known brand names, but on what holidaymakers are actually looking for: a subtropical swimming pool, a holiday with the dog, peace and quiet in the countryside, a child-friendly holiday park or, conversely, a luxury holiday home.

From inspiration to books

Since May 2026, visitors to DeVakantieGids.nl have been able not only to find inspiration, but also to book accommodation directly. The range now comprises more than 500 holiday homes across the Netherlands and is growing rapidly every month.

The expansion marks a new phase for the platform. Whilst the website began as a source of inspiration, it is increasingly evolving into a place where visitors can plan and book their entire holiday.

Ambitie: the go-to platform for holidays in the Netherlands

DeVakantieGids.nl’s ambition goes beyond simply offering accommodation. The aim is to build a platform where inspiration, information and bookings come together.

To this end, work is underway to expand the range of services on offer, establish new partnerships with holiday parks and leisure operators, and provide even more content on regions, nature reserves, towns, day trips and places of interest.

“We want to show just how much beauty the Netherlands has to offer. From the beaches of Zeeland to the forests of the Veluwe, and from the tranquillity of Drenthe to the convivial atmosphere of Limburg. Our aim is to inspire people and help them make the right choice. 

”Ultimately, we want to be the platform where you discover, understand and book a holiday," said Broer.
