Gonzalo Aguilar joins as chief executive officer at Minor Hotels Europe & Americas

Gonzalo Aguilar has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of Europe & Americas. Aguilar, who has been on board at Minor Hotels since October 2024, takes over from Ramón Aragonés. After a successful period, Aragonés will retire but will remain involved as non-executive vice-president and as a member of the Board of Directors.

Aguilar brings over three decades of international experience in the hospitality sector to Minor Hotels. In his most recent position as Chief Operating Officer Europe at Marriott International, he was responsible for the strategic growth of the group. One of his greatest achievements was the successful integration of AC Hotels into the Marriott portfolio. His career began as a restaurant manager in Colorado, after which he steadily rose to leadership positions.

In his new role, Aguilar will focus on two strategic pillars: international harmonisation of Minor's brand portfolio and accelerated expansion in the luxury and resort segment. This direction is in line with Minor Hotels' asset-right strategy, which seeks to maximise growth through a diversified mix of owned properties, management and franchise contracts.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and president of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, commented, "Gonzalo's deep expertise in multibrand and asset-light business models, combined with his proven leadership qualities, makes him ideally suited to realise our growth ambitions in this strategic region."

"I am honoured to be part of Minor Hotels at such an important time," Aguilar said. "The company has experienced impressive growth and boasts a portfolio of leading brands. Together with our talented teams, I see excellent opportunities to further strengthen our position in the most promising market segments."

Aguilar's appointment will be formalised at the Annual General Meeting on 30 June 2025. To ensure a smooth transition, he has been working closely with his predecessor Aragonés in recent months.
