Hotel de Wereld and Hotel de Sterrenberg are jointly organising the cycling event 'Cycling for Freedom' for the second time on Sunday 18 May 2025. Here, the proceeds will go to KWF. Several gravel and road cycling routes will be available that day, taking participants past the most beautiful places on the Veluwe. It is a day entirely dedicated to freedom in its broadest sense.
The starting and finishing point of the routes is Hotel de Wereld in Wageningen. There are two gravel routes of 85 and 120 kilometres and three road bike routes of 80, 120 and 160 kilometres. The routes take participants past the most beautiful places in nature and past World War II monuments and memorials. Along the way, there is a stop at Hotel de Sterrenberg in Otterlo where coffee roaster Peeze will provide everyone with a good cup of coffee and the brigade of the Sterrenberg will provide a tasty lunch of soup, sandwiches and sports food.
At the end of the routes, the Hotel de Wereld team will provide a delicious (veggie) burger from the Oklahoma Joe BBQ with a drink of your choice to toast to this beautiful day together!
The teams from both hotels hope this will allow them to share valuable proceeds with the KWF Cancer Fund. Because Cycling for Freedom has a double meaning this day. Participants cycle past places that remind us of World War II, which makes us reflect on peace and freedom. But they also cycle to raise money to be able to enjoy the freedom of life. When this is no longer possible due to cancer, we gladly dedicate ourselves to this.
Every sporty cycling enthusiast (both off-roaders and asphalt fanatics) is invited to sign up for this special cycling event. You can register via the Hotel de Sterrenberg website:
