In June, The Hoxton will open the doors of its newest location in bustling and historic Haymarket, Edinburgh. The design-focused hotel occupies 11 joined-up townhouses on either side of the street, with original Georgian elements carefully preserved and refined by AIME Studios, Ennismore's in-house design team.
The hotel has 214 rooms, including three independent residences to be completed later this summer. Guests are welcomed in a spacious lobby with cosy seating areas and impressive vaulted ceilings. Furthermore, The Hoxton offers an intimate cinema, a ballroom for events, the creative meeting concept The Apartment and Patatino, an all-day Italian restaurant serving classic trattoria dishes prepared with local Scottish ingredients.
With no fewer than nine room types, The Hoxton Edinburgh offers something for everyone. From the compact Snug Single EN Bunk Room for solo travellers and groups of friends, to the familiar Hox classics: Cosy, Roomy EN Biggy. New is the introduction of the House category: three self-contained houses, each with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, perfect for those who want to combine the comforts of home with the character of the city.
All rooms are designed with attention to detail and preservation of the original character of the mansions. Historic elements are combined with rich colours, ornate lighting and luxurious textiles for a warm, eclectic atmosphere.
The open lobby is the social heart of the hotel - a place where locals and guests come together for morning coffee, remote work during the day or drinks towards evening. Culturally, there is plenty to experience too: with a changing programme in collaboration with local makers and a charming mini cinema for just five visitors at a time, The Hoxton invites you to experience the city in a new way.
Patatino is a fresh new addition to Edinburgh's eclectic restaurant scene, serving hearty Italian dishes in a relaxed romantic atmosphere. Patatino is designed to express the flavours, ingredients, energy and cheerful hospitality of extended meals with friends on holiday on the Amalfi coast. It transports guests to a trattoria in Sorrento, with all the chic sophistication of a Neapolitan aperitivo bar and without pretence.
The flat's meeting and event space is located on the ground floor of the hotel, with four rooms surrounding a communal pantry. Perfect for parties, private dinners and meetings large and small, the space will exude a distinctly homely atmosphere with decorative panelling on the walls and vintage furniture and fittings. There is also a ballroom-style event space, aptly named The Get Together, perfect for larger occasions.
A hub of activity in the city's West End, Haymarket provides an ideal base for visiting iconic cultural hotspots such as nearby New Town, Murrayfield Stadium and Castle Rock. Inspired by Edinburgh's Georgian heritage, AIME Studios' design refers to the neoclassical style so closely associated with the neighbourhood. This style is perfectly interspersed with more contemporary block colours and clean lines, representative of Haymarket's vibrancy and informal atmosphere. AIME Studios worked with Bauwerk Colour to create the Neighbourhood Collection of durable, chalky paints to create a behind-the-scenes look at the design process of creating a Hoxton. Paying homage to the elegant, worn facades and distinctive stonework of the newest Hox district, the colours give Moss EN Haymarket guests a taste of what awaits in Edinburgh.
