Marcus van der Valk, director at Van der Valk Exclusive says: "By also becoming a deposit collection point, we are taking a logical step to contribute even further to a circular economy. In addition, it fits in nicely with our sustainability goals and offers our guests convenience because they can now also get their deposit back from us. I hope this addition will be positively received by our guests." For the press event, general manager was delegated from Van Der Valk.
Hester Klein Lankhorst, chairman Verpact Board of Directors adds: "I am very happy that Van der Valk will also become a collection point for deposit packaging. Easy for the guests and a great example for other hotels. We can use extra collection points to collect even more deposit packaging. As a Waste Good Regulation participant from the very beginning, the hotel chain is a great example of an organisation that deals sustainably with packaging waste and thus contributes to the circular economy."
"Hotels generate a large volume of packaging waste every day. By properly separating this and collecting deposit packaging, they can directly help reduce the amount of waste and ensure that this packaging finds its proper way to recycling. We hope their positive example will inspire other hospitality entrepreneurs, encourage them to take the same sustainable steps and sign up for a deposit machine and Waste Well Regulated. "
Verpact ensures that packaging in the Netherlands - after use - is collected, recycled and reused in a smart and efficient way, including through the deposit system. This implements the legally regulated producer responsibility for packaging. Verpact plays a central role in making the packaging chain circular, with the ideal being that every old packaging becomes new packaging. This preserves valuable raw materials in the chain, reduces litter and microplastics and limits the impact of packaging on the environment.
